Hemant Soren may take oath as Jharkhand CM alone, Cabinet to be sworn in later
A deadly gas cylinder explosion occurred in Kharamanchak, Jogser police station area, on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of a father and his son. The blast took place around 5 AM at a restaurant located in front of Nagar Mal Mall. Authorities believe the explosion was triggered by a short circuit, which caused a fire that eventually led to the cylinder blast.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started due to a short circuit in the restaurant. As the flames spread, father and son, identified as Kishan Kumar Jhunjhunwala and Kanhaiya Kumar (also known as Prasun Jhunjhunwala), attempted to open the restaurant’s gate to extinguish the fire. As they reached the gate, the domestic gas cylinder inside exploded, killing them both on the spot.
The force of the explosion caused severe damage to nearby properties. Cracks were reported in the walls of several homes in the vicinity. Local residents who were out for their morning walk stated that they heard the blast from a distance of approximately one kilometer. One resident noted, "The sound of the blast was so loud, it shook the ground."
Police responded to the scene immediately after being notified. They transported the injured to Maya Ganj Hospital, but both father and son were declared dead upon arrival. The authorities have confirmed their identities and are investigating the cause of the short circuit. Police have also started examining the safety protocols of the restaurant and surrounding buildings.
The explosion’s aftermath has raised concerns about the safety of gas cylinders and electrical wiring in the area. The police are urging residents to take precautionary measures to prevent such incidents, including regular checks on electrical appliances and gas cylinders. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether any negligence contributed to the explosion.
